The EmptyNesters are again hosting a pre-Selichot dinner for the entire congregation. Please join us. It will be a wonderful dinner catered by Provisions -- they also catered the recent Sisterhood PurimFest. The cost is $25 per person. We invite you to join with us for this wonderful time together for the start the High Holiday season.
Saturday, September 12th, 6PM at Temple
Selichot, meaning forgiveness, refers to the prayers recited by Jews prior to the onset of the High Holiday season. This is a beautiful candle-lit service filled with music. Selichot services are customarily observed before Rosh Hashanah as a solemn and fitting preparation for ten days of reflection and self-examination. After the dinner there will be a concert followed by the Selichot service.

The Service
The Selichot Service uses a beautiful and compelling liturgy in a tradition that prepares us for the spiritual odyssey of the High Holy Days. The Kaufmann Sanctuary will be lit by candlelight. The congregation will worship together in a service that includes traditional prayers from our earliest history to contemporary expressions and longings of the human soul. The service concludes with the traditional sounding of the Shofar. This service is a truly meaningful way to begin our observance of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
